Manic Monday

I woke up this morning to the sound of my baby girl wailing ~ apparently she was hungry at 3 am. For the next four hours I tried to go back to sleep. I was successful, but had really weird dreams, so it wasn't very restful sleep. I dragged myself out of bed at 7:15 and went to work on getting Parker ready for school. We actually made great time and he was out the door at 7:50. For the next fifty (50) minutes, I waited outside with Parker for his bus to come. Apparently it was a sub who was VERY unfamiliar with our area. Now I had to rush to get Apollo (who Ryan had graciously dressed) and Halea ready to go to the Y so I could teach my class. THE SILVER LINING ... I taught a great class (although I think I pulled a muscle in my upper thigh) and I felt SOOOO much better leaving there than I did walking in. I always look at Mondays to set the tone for the week and now I think I'm off to a great week despite the rocky start I had this morning.

Oh Bryce...

Yesterday, while Ryan was at meetings before church, I amazed myself by getting all four kids ready for church with time to spare. In that spare time, Bryce decided to carve his name into a cardboard box with his swiss army knife ~ only when he got to the C the blade came down on his right pointer finger. I wasn't sure whether to take him to the ER until I saw how flappy it was and then I knew he would need stitches. UGH.
We got right in to see a Dr. ~ I guess Sunday morning is a slow time at the ER. Everything was ok, aside from anxiousness from Bryce. As the Dr. started numbing Bryce up, I began to feel woosey. Before I knew it, I slumped over face first onto a pillow. Then I remember slumping in to the Dr.'s chest and thinking it was a really nice pillow. The next thing I remember I woke up in a hospital bed and someone threw a warm blanket over me ~ apparently I was the second fainter for our Dr. that morning.
Bryce did get his stitches and he seems to be fine now.

Oh Parker

Oh Parker. Yesterday Ryan was showing Parker his swiss army knife. Although Parker has several developmental delays, that part of him that is in to weapons seems to be working just fine. Somehow he poked himself with the blade of one of he attachments. The wailing did not stop for an hour. I tried everything to calm him, bandaids, cheese, strawberry milkshake, etc. but nothing worked. The only thing he wanted was to cut Ryan's thumb off. I guess he's still on the mosaic law (eye for an eye). This is a picture of Parker with his kinancher (whatever that means) that he built.

Spray tan

I had my first spray tan today. I've been mildly depressed with the serious lack of sun, so I decided to get a sunkissed glow without the sun. It was an interesting experience ~ much like what I think a gas chamber would be like. The whole process probably lasted less than a minute. Since it was my first one, the lady recommended I go clear so I wouldn't emerge oompa loompa orange ~ and gradually the self-tanner would change my skin. I haven't seen the effects yet. It was an interesting experience. I'm not sure that I will do it again.

Sleepless in Seattle

My darling is sick, AGAIN! It seems like we haven't had a two week stretch without anyone in the family getting sick. He slept all day yesterday, so naturally at 2 am, he woke up and couldn't fall back to sleep ~ which means I also woke up and could not fall back to sleep. At 5 I went to the gym and ran my five miles, then I taught my strength and conditioning class. I'm sooooo tired!!! I need a good night's sleep!

Just an update

I'm still holding strong to my new year's resolutions. It hasn't been hard on the fast food, but I've been tempted to drink pop. I think the ultimate test will be when I'm really hungry and I pass Taco Bell and keep on driving. We'll see how it goes!
